A new ruling has cleared the path for Amazon’s collaboration with the CIA. Amazon was given the contract earlier this year, but IBM continuously threatened to reopen bidding through a series of lawsuits. IBM says that they plan to appeal the ruling. The $600 million cloud storage contract will be used for the agency’s least sensitive and most commonly accessed information. There will, however, remain a higher tier cloud usage for protecting more classified data. In 2011, a report revealed that dozens of government offices were already relying on Amazon-powered cloud services.
