And so it begins…
Yes, we pointed out that the Syrian Rebels Test Chemical Weapons on Rabbits, asking “Did They Stage Last Week’s Attack?”
And yes, British Foreign Secretary William Hague did, on Sunday say that any evidence of a chemical attack by the Syrian government – if it was carried out by the Assad regime – has likely already been destroyed.
“The fact is that much of the evidence could have been destroyed by that artillery bombardment,” Hagel said during a press conference after Damascus said it was will to have UN inspectors do whatever digging they want to, in order to verify that the attack was not from the Ba`athist regime.
And yet, still, we now have confirmation that war is on it’s way. Word comes from the Telegraphy UK, who announced that government sources stated unequivocally that “Royal Navy vessels are being readied to take part in a possible series of cruise missile strikes, alongside the United States, as military commanders finalise a list of potential targets.”
According to the Telegraph, the bombing will begin “within days.”
“Britain is planning to join forces with America and launch military action against Syria within days in response to the gas attack believed to have been carried out by President Bashar al-Assad’s forces against his own people.”
So unless this is unusually heavy saber-rattling, it looks like the Obama administration and the U.S. Military Industrial Complex has already decided who carried out the chemical weapons attacks, in spite of all the evidence and logic to the contrary. As we reported earlier Sunday:
As bad as Assad is, some factions fighting against him have proven to be just as bad, and just as willing to murder civilians. While Assad would and has no doubt murdered tens of thousands of civilians, we should not allow our opposition to him to blind us from what is likely a set-up, a pretext for U.S. intervention, whether the U.S. is aware of it or whether they are being manipulated by the Syrian opposition.
We at Political Blind Spot stand by that. Until we find out more, perhaps you should read the interview our correspondent Micah Naziri did with former Green Party Presidential candidate, Cynthia McKinney, on the illegitimate and illegal war on Libya, and how it was used to squash the forming “United States of Africa” that Qaddafi was key to organizing.
