Cop Anonymous Activist, Joins Protest?

Cool_guy_antiACTA

At first glance this sounds like a police officer infiltrating a protest. Maybe that’s what it is, but there are some reasons to believe something strange and even wonderful is going on here.

A North Miami Beach, Florida police officer was arrested after being accused of refusing to take off an “Anonymous” Guy Fawkes mask he had on while protesting. What makes it seem like this cop was legitimately identifying with real protestors, and not posing as one to gather information? For starters, this was not the most liberal of protests, it was against the federal government’s new “ObamaCare” healthcare law.

Additionally, when Ericson Harrell, 39, was stopped by police at the 1600 block of South University Drive in Plantation on November 22, he openly professed that he was a cop, rather than allowing the officers to bring him in and then explaining things to them. This is of course a common tactic used to infiltrate activist movements to gain “credibility” in the eyes of legitimate activist who thus think the “new guy” is hardcore, willing to go to jail at the drop of a hat.

Wearing a black cape and the Guy Fawkes mask as seen in the movie “V for Vendetta”, Harrell also carried a flagpole with an upside down U.S. flag, stating that this symbolized a state of distress of the nation.

Harrell “was asked several times to remove his mask and produce some form of identification or tell us his name,” the incident report stated, but “He refused each time.”

Harrell also wouldn’t tell police who he was, “stating his anonymity was his cause, thus the mask… He stated the mask was used by movement groups around the world for protest,” and that the officers had no legal authority to tell him to take it off.

Harrell only told the officers: “I’m a cop, I’m a cop,” after the officers began ordering him not to make any “sudden movements” when they discovered he was carrying a .40 caliber pistol in his right waistband.

While protesting universal health care has hardly been a unanimously agreed upon Anonymous cause, there have been many problems that have concerned civil libertarians and anarchists about the new health care laws. It’s impossible to determine Harrell’s true objectives, but of all the protests to find a cop, legitimately donning a Guy Fawkes mask, this might be the most believable.

What do you think? Weigh in and let us know.

No violence associated. Despite of efforts to infiltrate or discredit this still proves how effective the IDEA is. Privacy, Freedom & a shared consciousness that something is very wrong & we need to fix it.
