Man Gives $0.75 to a Homeless Person, Only To Be Arrested Minutes Later

Only minutes after giving a mere 75 cents to a homeless man, Greg Snider was handcuffed and detained for more than an hour by law enforcement officials in Houston.

Snider explains that he was in Houston on business when he was approached by a homeless man asking if he had any spare change. With only 75 cents in change on him, Snider gave him what he had, but moments later, police swarmed Snider’s car as they searched his car for drugs

“The homeless man came up to me. He said, ‘Hey my name is Dave. I’m from Dallas. I’m down on my luck. Do you have any change,'” Snider told local KPRC-TV.

After he left, Snider said, “I had no idea at all what was about to happen.”

The police, however, knew exactly what was about to happen, as they followed Snider onto the highway and hit their lights and sirens.

“I put my hazards on to let him know, ‘Hey, I see you,'” Snider continued, “This is a really bad part of I-10 to be pulled over on, so I was trying to find a safe place to pull over.”

When Snider came to a complete stop, officers rushed the car with guns drawn, “He’s screaming. He’s yelling. He’s telling me to get out of the car. He’s telling me to put my hands on the hood.”

Snider said he was forcefully pulled from his car, and thrown into the back of a police cruiser.

“They’re like, ‘We saw you downtown. We saw what you did.’ I was like, ‘Are you kidding me? I gave a homeless man 75 cents.'”

The police claimed that Snider was lying, and that they knew he bought drugs from the homeless man. They called 10 more cruisers in for backup, including a K9 unit with drug-sniffing dogs. After an exhaustive hour-long search, “He said everything was a misunderstanding and that I was free to go.”

The officers tried to joke with Snider about the “mix-up” but he has filed a complaint with the police Internal Affairs Department, saying that the police literally destroyed the interior of his car in their search for drugs that were never there.
