President Obama’s Kenyan half-brother, 58-year-old Malik Obama, says he will vote for Republican candidate Donald Trump. Malik is a U.S. citizen and longtime Democrat. He was best   man at his brother’s wedding and has visited him in the Oval Office.

Speaking by phone from Kenya, Malik Obama (Malik) said he is unhappy with the leadership of President Obama and the Obama administration. Because of that and the Republican Party’s position on certain issues, he says he will switch political affiliation and vote for the Republican candidate in November.

“I feel like a Republican now”, Malik explained. “I do not support same-sex marriage. I am Muslim; it’s something God would not approve. The Republican Party does not stand for that, and that appeals to me,” Malik continued. He supports Trump’s policies, especially Trump’s focus on security. Trump’s stance against Muslims coming into the U.S. was understandable to him. “You can’t have people going around shooting people and killing people just in the name of Islam”, he commented.

“I like Donald Trump because he is down to earth and he speaks from the heart and he is not trying to be politically correct. He’s just straight-forward”, Malik said.
