In A Revolutionary Move, Pope Francis Encourages Breastfeeding In Church

It is perhaps one of the most revolutionary moves by the Pope Francis yet. Last Sunday during a ceremony in which he baptized 32 children, the new pope said that mothers in attendance should feel free to breastfeed children if they become hungry.

“Today, the choir will sing, but the most beautiful choir of all is the choir of the infants who will make a noise,” the Pope said, “Some will cry because they are not comfortable or because they are hungry.┬áIf they are hungry, mothers, feed them, without thinking twice. Because they are the most important people here.”

While this was the first time that the pope publicly advised mothers to feed children during a service he was officiating, he said only last month at the Sistine Chapel that mothers should not feel uncomfortable breastfeeding their children during ceremonies he officiates. Interestingly, he arrived at the Sistine Chapel in a Ford Focus.
