Rush Limbaugh Denounces Pope As A ‘Marxist’

The relatively new Pope Francis has ingratiated himself to a lot of people, even many who have previously been critical of the Catholic Church and the Vatican. But Francis has made at least one prominent enemy: Rush Limbaugh.

The Pope lambasted free-market capitalism as “a new tyranny”. Rush did not approve of the critique, replying that, “If it weren’t for capitalism, I don’t know where the Catholic Church would be… I gotta be very careful… I have been numerous times to the Vatican. It wouldn’t exist without tons of money.”

A fair point. But the opulence of the Catholic church aside, the new Pope seems to prefer a more austere existence than many of his predecessors. But Rush wasn’t impressed by the  1984 Renault 4 with a stick shift-driving pope.

“What this is — somebody has either written this for him or gotten to him. This is just pure Marxism coming out of the mouth of the pope,” Limbaugh concluded.

  1. Rational people denounce Limbaugh as irrational and irrelevant.
